What Is PenPals?

If you have heard of Patreon, you may have an idea of how PenPals works. It is a paid membership starting from a £1 per month depending on what you wish included in your rewards. However, the main reason behind creating PenPals was to lower the stress and anxieties that having to keep up with social media, changing algorithms and companies like Patreon which continuously ignore Artists and their patrons for the profit and expansion of their own ideas. Its a comfortable place for both Penguinsbite and its interested, kind fans. It is highly recommended that you have a Discord as that is where majority of the community is.

Can I Join PenPals?

You have to be 18 or over as this Penpals requires a direct debit. Furthermore, mature topics may also be discussed within the PenPal-exclusive areas of Discord.

Can I Trust It Since It Doesn’t Go Through A Service?

Penguinsbite uses the same system as the general store, using services such as PayPal / Stripe etc. which give you an added wall of safety. PenPals has been an active service since May 2021. I am a real artist, with a full-time career who does art in my free time - this means that things aren’t always perfect, but I’ll always do my best to keep you in the loop and up-to-date with any delays. You can also cancel anytime, with no cancellation fees etc.

Can I Cancel My Penpal Membership At Any Time?

Yes you can - there is no cancellation fee.

Do You Get Loyalty Points From The Recurring Payment?

Loyalty points are no longer valid across the website.

Chinstrap membership: What if I suggest a character you don’t know or don’t want to draw?

Good question! I don’t mind doing a photocard for a character that a Chinstrap suggests if I don’t know them or the fandom they are from… E.g. I was asked to draw Griffith from Beserk even though I don’t know the series. So feel free to suggest! However, Penguinsbite has the right to refuse a requested character - this may be explained clearly or simply avoided if there are alternative requested characters.

Chinstrap membership: Can I only request 1 character a month at a time for photocards?

You can request as many characters as you want at any time while a Chinstrap, but I’ll try and be fair in picking from various people and will often opt for characters I prefer / like / know. I will also only draw your requested characters within your subscription period and on the chance that I’m behind. The exception to this would be if I’m already a huge fan and choose to use the character for a month anyway.

Chinstrap membership: Based on what I know, you’re behind! What happens if I join now?

This happens unfortunately! If you wish to be a Macaroni Penguin, Pen being behind on Photocards shouldn’t be an issue. However for Chinstraps, there will be a delay on you receiving any photocards until I catch up to the first month of your subscription which does mean you may not see anything until things are caught up… however all other access is available immediately (except birthday doodles which require an initial 3 month sub-cycle even if Penguinsbite is caught up)
